Flexshaft Computer-Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) process includes an electronic
materials management system.
Elliott Flexshaft products
are produced on computer-numerical-controlled (CNC) machine tools, capable of
ultra-precision machining. Additional production capabilities include high-pressure
core lubrication, casing manufacture, and application of protective over-braid. The
integration of these capabilities ensures cost-effective production, shortened lead times
and the required quality assurance. Precision test equipment provides accurate,
reliable in-house verification of raw materials and finished products.
The Elliott flexible shafts have been developed for hundreds of advanced
applications in commercial and military aircraft: thrust-reverser systems for jet engines,
wing flap and slat actuation and indicator units, wing sweep and feedback systems,
emergency canopy-actuation systems and cargo door drives. Extreme environment
operation applications include missile shroud deployment, engine extension and gimbal
control, and synchronization. These systems require engineering and technological
expertise, coupled with advanced manufacturing capabilities to ensure extended life and
