ASABE Announces AE50 Winners for Innovative Technology
Binghamton, New York – The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) recently announced that Elliott Manufacturing has won an AE50 award.
Elliott Manufacturing developed the Elliott FlexSeeder, deemed one of the year’s most innovative designs in engineering products or systems for the food and agriculture industries. The Elliott FlexSeeder will be featured in the January/February 2015 special AE50 issue of ASABE’s magazine Resource: Engineering & Technology for a Sustainable World.
“We are thrilled to receive this award. We’ve developed the Elliott FlexSeeder to transfer rotary power through gearboxes to sequence seed delivery, replacing chain and sprocket drives,” said Kevin Shaw, Product Manager, Elliott Manufacturing. “The fully sealed flexible shaft requires no servicing and gives machine designers an economical and reliable solution capable of a long service life without replacement. Designed with the option of individual on/off row control for precision farming and maintenance free operations, users will realize substantial seed savings.”
Companies from around the world submit entries to the annual AE50 competition and up to 50 of the best products are chosen by a panel of international engineering experts. The judges select products that will best advance engineering for the food and agriculture industries. “We felt that the Elliott FlexSeeder was a real contender for the AE50 award. It’s been designed to fit a variety of seeder platforms, and allows OEM’s, Aftermarket Professionals and Farmers the ability to economically upgrade their planting systems with state of the art drive technology,” said Shaw.
The AE50 awards program is sponsored by Resource to emphasize the role of new products and systems in bringing advanced technology to the marketplace. These engineering developments help farmers, food processors and equipment manufacturers cut costs, enhance quality and increase profits.
